Secret Fix SF500 roofing is a proven system that offers fast, simple installation with excellent performance and design flexibility. There is no need for external penetrations of the outer sheet, end laps or sealant, resulting in excellent durability and a clean, uncluttered finish.
Secret Fix SF500 roofs are produced predominantly in Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® pre-finished steel by Tata Steel with the system offering many of the advantages of a true standing seam. Colorcoat® products made in the UK are certified to BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing Standard. The roof systems can be installed with a pitch as low as 1° and can be simply integrated into constructions where the material of choice is steel. Euroclad's secret fix roofing was awarded BBA certification in 2004.
Secret Fix Systems involve the mechanical fixing through the under lap of the profile into the roof structure, which is then covered over by the overlap of the profile. This removes any chance of leaks through the roof sheets as all the penetrations are protected from weathering. SF500 provides superb weathering performance through a precision engineered snap fit 55mm overlap. The under lap is designed to take a 3mm bead mastic seal, whilst the low profile pan allows excellent drainage at low pitch. Single eaves-to-eaves or ridge-to-eaves sheet lengths with no end laps and no external fixings penetrating the sheet, along with on-site manufacture, means that sheet lengths are effectively limited only by handling requirements.
Manufactured predominantly in Tata Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra® pre-finished steel, the system offers many of the advantages of a true standing seam system, but is simpler to install and may be more simply integrated into projects where the material of choice is steel rather than aluminium. Sheets can be rollformed on site, therefore long lengths, eaves to eaves are possible giving excellent watertight covering. The SF500 sheet can also self curve to a 50 convex metre radius. Carefully designed accessories and details ensure no compromise of performance. The structurally - tested system and longevity of materials provide long-term security.
Our typical twin skin standing seam roof with a 0.7mm liner, insulation to achieve 0.25 U value and 0.9mm aluminium standing seam will give a sound reduction of 44.2db. If part of your design brief is to reduce noise by a value greater than 44.2dB, then this can be achieved by simply adding mass to the construction. There are a variety of ways that this can be achieved; one way is to increase the gauge of the liner from 0.7mm to 0.9mm. Sound absorption systems are available to reduce the sound resonance in buildings such as sports halls and schools.

SINGLE SKIN USE - Wind loadingS
Provided that care has been taken in considering the applicable loadings and the SF500 sheet load/span capacity in the design process it is possible to use SF500 successfully as a single skin sheet. There are a large number of possible constructions which may be classed as single skin, some of which are considered higher risk areas where there are significant additional uplift loads generated. Examples of these would be exposed eaves, ridge or verge cantilevers (not closed off by a soffit), canopies or large warehouses with a large opening at one end where vortexes can be created inside the building.
In all cases the critical element is that the total of all possible applicable wind loads are established when designing and that the sheet span capacity is checked against the total of these loadings using the published load/span tables wind negative load factored to two. Where there is any doubt with regard to the limitations of the loading calculations and applicable standards or a desire to be 'belt and braces' in design, additional precautions may be applied such as doubling calculated loading values and introducing additional supports at risk areas in order to reduce span and improve load capacity.
Another factor to consider if SF500 is employed in a single skin application is the potential for condensation to form on the back of the sheet. This may be dealt with primarily by adequate ventilation and is then unlikely to pose any problems. With SF500 is used as an uninsulated cover it is not always possible to successfully fit a breather membrane to be effective for example where there is no support below it between purlins. It is used as a single skin over an enclosed space (on a steel frame for example)

A leathergrain plastisol product suitable for roof and wall cladding applications where good performance is required at a competitive price. Available with a performance guarantee up to 25 years. In line with advice from Pre-finished material suppliers and in order to minimise the risk of difference in appearance, ALL material requirements should be sourced from the same manufacturing batch. Therefore, all material requirements should ideally be ordered at the same time.
WHICH OPTION IS BEST FOR YOUR PROJECT?
In all cases of site production we require close consultation throughout the quotation process and advise that it continues through planning stages whenever appropriate for size of the project. We will attend necessary site planning meetings to discuss our Method Statement and personnel requirements and be able to give precise site specific method statements. SF500 profiles can be manufactured at our Cardiff based manufacturing plant and packed carefully for delivery. ISO9002 Quality checks throughout the material order process then the manufacturing process enable complete material and product traceability through and after the production process.
Straight packed profiles enable good use of the trailer space and an average load of sheets will contain approx 2000m2 of sheets. Maximum pack weights for delivered sheets is 1 tonne. Sheet lengths up to 8 metres can be safely lifted using webbing slings more than 8 metres will require additional use of a spreader beam (we can supply by request). Spreader beams are designed for crane offload only. Please discuss any site specific requirements before placing an order.
SITE roll - ground
Where sheet length exceeds 18.5 metre lengths we recommend the use of our mobile production units, where SF500 profiles can also be produced from our mobile unit. An 85 KVA, 3 phase generator supplies power to the Rollformer for upto 2 weeks without refueling so we have no additional requirement on site except for the necessary space and correct number of contractor supplied manpower. The Euroclad On Site team can arrive to site and produce sheets following a 10 minute simple trailer setup. Sheets can be rollformed then lifted using a Euroclad Spreader beam or alternatively the rollformer can be safely lifted to the eaves and sheets produced at roof level.
SITE ROLL - AT EAVES OPTION
The rollformer has its own wireless remote control unit so the machine can be run from the safety of the roof area without being inside the rollformer production unit. When rolling at ground level we can produce 6000lm of sheets per day, at roof level we can also produce 6000lm per day.
