Traditional Seam

What is a Traditional Seam roof?

Euroclad Urban ProfileVieo

Traditional seam roofs date back hundreds of years and use materials like lead, copper and zinc which, despite advances in prefabrication techniques and fixing technology, require a highly skilled, specialised installer to achieve a good installation. Sheets will often be cut and welded onsite and the nature of the products means that they are usually bespoke. The attractive finish of this labour-intensive, complicated and expensive roofing option can be emulated by Euroclad Vieo which is cost-effective, precision manufactured and quick to install.

Why choose Vieo ?

Euroclad Urban ProfileConvenient and cost effective are two terms that perfectly describe this new roofing system from Euroclad. It is a quickly installed alternative to traditional roofing and is manufactured using the latest technology to facilitate a straightforward installation whilst offering the aesthetic and charm of time-honoured materials like lead or zinc.  Euroclad Elite Urban roofing systems can be produced using Corus Colorcoat Urban™. The newly developed Colorcoat Urban™ pre-finished steel provides an innovative and sustainable solution for roofs and walls, specifically designed for the urban environment range.

Euroclad Urban Profile Acoustic BenefitsVieo uses a compressed stonewool insulation called RocSlab that has excellent acoustic properties and has recently been developed in partnership with Rockwool.  The warm roof version of the system will typically provide sound reductions of 40dB minimum, to be confirmed by tests that are about to take place.  If you give us an SRi target to achieve, we will endeavour to provide a compliant construction which will achieve the specified performance across the frequency range. Sound absorption systems are available to reduce the sound resonance in buildings such as sports halls and schools.

    Regulation Compliance

Euroclad Urban Regulation ComplianceAll constructions are thermally modelled on software compliant to BS EN 10211/1 and 2, to achieve the required U-value.  Details of methods for showing compliance are available in the Governments Approved Document itself, the MCRMA Technical Paper 14 and Euroclad's Construction Details book - 'psi' Values are available for robust and bespoke details. NBS draft specifications are provided for standard constructions and can be tailored to suit project performance requirements through consultation. This service can utilise our experience and the flexibility of built-up systems, which can respond individually to your requirements for specific thermal, acoustic, structural and other performance considerations.

What do our customers say about this product?

Colour Clad Ltd - Andy Taylor - Director

''The original specification called for 1000m2 of traditional Zinc standing seam to match in with all the remaining buildings within the University Campus. The University is set within both a greenbelt and conservation area and local planning would not allow an industrial looking roof to be constructed. With the help of Euroclad and their traditional Vieo system we were able to offer the client a cost effective but very much aesthetically similar alternative to the traditional zinc system originally specified. The client and architect were very pleased with the finished roofs and how alike they were to other traditional zinc roofs around them. The main contractor was not only very satisfied with the appearance but also the speed of installation and cost of the system compared to the zinc system.''
