What is a Profiled roof?

Profiled roof systems are best suited for roof pitches greater than 5 degrees. The profile is made up of a series of corrugations, each in the shape of a trapezium, (refered to as Trapezoidal Profile) which lap together side to side and end to end, making it very easy to cover varying areas of roof quickly. The profile sheets are typically coated steel, but can also be supplied in aluminium, and have mastic seals located in the end and side laps. Fixings are located normally through the 'pan' of the profile, rather than through the corrugation.

Why choose a Trapezoidal Roof System?

Trapezoidal roof systems are very cost effective, lightweight and suited to a wide variety of applications, including new build and refurbishment, and there is a broad selection of colour, finish and profile shape. For industrial applications trapezoidal roof systems proves are particularly ideal, but are also suited to commercial or retail applications where the roof may be concealed behind a parapet.

System Performance

Due to the sealing of the liner system and the outer profile, trapezoidal built up roof systems do not suffer from interstitial condensation. It is a common misconception that condensation can form on the underside of the outer profile on clear cold nights, due to night-sky radiation. The reality is that unless there is a means for significant moisture vapour to enter into the built up system, condensation is not a real threat. Trapezoidal built up roof systems offer Class O surface spread of flame, have an excellent acoustic performance (typically over 40dB SRi) and are normally assessed as 'Non Fragile' making them suitable for maintenance access (refer to our technical department for further advice).

Regulation Compliance

All constructions are thermally modelled on software compliant to BS EN 10211/1 and 2, fully taking into account any thermal bridging through the systems to achieve the required U Value. Details of methods for showing compliance are available in the Goverments Approved Document itself, the MCRMA Technical Paper 14 and Euroclad's Construction Details book - 'psi' Values are availble for robust and bespoke details. NBS draft specifications are provided for standard constructions and can be tailored to suit project performance requirements through consultation.
