For 0.7mm gauge steel flashing the standard length is 3.658 metres (12 feet), the extra length assisting the client to maintain a good line and minimise joints. Joints can be lapped or butt jointed. Heavier gauge materials are typically supplied in 3m lengths and the full range of materials, colours and gauges are usually held in stock
What are flashings for?
They finish off the construction.
They can aesthetically enhance the building.
They weatherproof the structure.
They minimise air permeability.
They minimise sound transmission.
They provide thermally efficient junctions.
Euroclad’s large manufacturing capacity ensures that, even for the most demanding site programme, flashings manufactured from the same source materials and batches are available on very short lead times.
Euroclad flashings are manufactured on state-of-the-art press brakes and folding machines. The standard lengths are 3.658m. Joints can be either lapped, or butt jointed. Butt joints are supplied in 150mm lengths.
What is a Whelt?
Many flashings require a “welt”, or turn back.
Standard welts are 15mm.
They provided extra stiffening at the edge of the flashing.
They also provide a “safe edge” to avoid handling injuries.
