work by our Technical department we've just been issued BBA
certification for Vieo. The BBA (British Board of Agrement)
is the UK's major authority offering approval of construction
products, systems and installers and as such achieving BBA
certification is a significant achievement. Vieo is the
cost-effective alternative to traditional metal roofing and
features the attractive combination of a flat pan with a small,
folded seam. The system is ideal for a range of applications
but is particularly suited to timber constructions as it can be
fixed to a timber deck or structural insulated panel. Warm
and cold roofs are possible and the warm system provides excellent
thermal properties and a unique method of fixing that is easy to
install whilst being high performance.

The investment in BBA certification is one of many ways we
demonstrate our commitment to providing the best possible products
to our customers, providing great value, technical support and
customer service along the way.

We're happy to announce the
imminent launch of a new LINEAR system to complete the rainscreen
offering of our Euroclad Facades business.

The new LINEAR 4 is a face-fixed
facade utilising the tried and tested engineered support systems
used for other LINEAR systems. Unlike other systems LINEAR 4
uses flat sheets of material rather than cassette panels, which
offers some significant benefits. The first is the reduction
in the cost per square metre of a building. The decrease in
the amount of material and reduced processing requirements
associated with a flat sheet compared to a cassette panel can
reduce the overall cost of the building fabric.

LINEAR 4 also ensures that the
budget constraints that may be prompting you to look at
alternatives to a cassette panel do not constrain design
flexibility. In fact, when it comes to panel shape a face fix
system can offer greater design flexibility for less cost, with
more practicality.

And panel shape isn't the only aspect of LINEAR 4 that offers
choice. It is available in a huge range of metal, anodised
aluminium, aluminium composite material, metal composite materials
like stainless steel and copper, and powder coated aluminium.
This product is very new and we are currently in the process of
producing a short brochure and content for the website. In
the meantime, if you want more information or a quotation please
call us on 02920 790722 or email <a

SBEM is a software tool developed by BRE that provides an
analysis of a building's energy consumption.

SBEM is used for non domestic buildings in support of the
National Calculation Methodology (NCM) and the Energy Performance
of Buildings Directive (EPBD). The tool helps to determine CO2
emission rates for new buildings in compliance with Part L of the
Building Regulations [England and Wales] and equivalent Regulations
in Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Jersey.
It is also used to generate Energy Performance Certificates for
non-domestic buildings in construction, for sale or let. It was
developed by BRE for the Department for Communities and Local
Government.

The latest version of the SBEM tool and its accompanying user
interface, iSBEM, can be downloaded free of charge from the
dedicated National Calculation Method website at <a

We have successfully curved our Euroseam aluminium standing seam
sheeting down to a radius of just 1.5m; an extremely tight curve
that opens up a world of design possibilities. A smooth curve with
such a tight radius can be very useful in the construction of
characteristic roofs and unique building features.

Improvements and innovations like these are driven to help
satisfy you, our customers. And that is certainly the case with
this new development. We want to make your life easier and help you
achieve all that you want to. This improved ability for ultra-tight
curves, without the need for cranking, demonstrates our commitment
to our customers and our position as a company at the forefront of
the metal roofing and cladding industry.

A comprehensive volume of drawing details has been produced as a
valuable reference to help achieve Part L compliant constructions
using Euroclad Elite Systems. Competent Details are modelled in
accordance with a BRE approved standard; avoiding U-value penalties
and ensuring maximum air tightness due to the vigorous modelling
process.

The Competent Details publication boasts over a hundred pages of
details covering four roof systems and two wall systems, featuring
details such as eaves, gutters and door jambs, amongst others. Part
L requires robust details that have been modelled using an approved
standard, to avoid U-value penalties being levied.
Competent Details do just that.

We have received a revised BBA certificate for its
Euroseam roof systems. The new certificate is the result of
significant testing and modelling by Euroclad's technical office in
conjunction with the BBA.

It includes comprehensive coverage of all standard Elite Systems
using Euroseam and encompasses a wider range of U-values and
acoustic performances. Systems incorporating an aluminium
perforated liner or deck and Euroclad high humidity vapour control
layer (VCL) are also now covered, meaning that applications such as
swimming pools, that may benefit from these more tailored
solutions, are covered directly by BBA certification.

Certification includes fixings, VCLs, breather membranes and
other system components which are linked to the quality control
documents for Elite Systems; ensuring product excellence and
providing traceability throughout the manufacturing process.

The BBA certificate confirms the stated performance of Euroseam
roof systems and provides the most comprehensive coverage for any
standing seam system available.

The latest amendments to Part L have set ambitious
targets for the industry to reduce carbon emissions by 25 per cent
for all non-domestic buildings. To help advise the industry, we
have reviewed the changes with our supply chain partners and
Oxford Brookes University and published a new
technical paper 'The Role of the Building Envelope in Part L 2010
Compliance'. The paper includes information on the effects of
altering building envelope parameters such as air-tightness and U
values, for different building sizes/geometries. It covers the
interaction between building services and the envelope &
identifies cost effective measures to reduce CO2 emissions.
