Cradle to Cradle Systems
Euroclad can ensure a low maintenance building envelope through
the specification of Elite Systems and the industry leading Corus
Confidex® Guarantee. The looks and performance of an existing
building can be rejuvenated when using Elite Systems to over clad
roofs or walls without going through extensive demolition and
rebuilding. They are designed to be flexible and easy to
adapt over the building's life. Elite Systems can also act as a
substructure that can be over clad, extending the useful life of a
building and accommodate a change of building use.
The U-values specified as part of an Elite System do not suffer
from any loss of thermal performance caused by the breakdown of the
insulation. As there is no possible degradation of designed
U-values, a consistent U-value performance for the life of the
building and an accurate prediction of lifecycle analysis in terms
of heat loss through the roof and walls is possible.
Exceptionally High Levels Of Air Tightness
Elite Systems comply fully with Building Regulations. In fact
they can achieve exceptionally high levels of air tightness, nine
times better than the minimum acceptable level stated in Part L
(2006). Air tightness is the most effective way
to reduce energy usage with savings of up to 90% of the energy lost
through air leakage.
As part of its commitment to sustainability Euroclad Elite
Systems are able to offer the award winning Corus Confidex
Sustain®, the world's first cradle to cradle CarbonNeutral building
envelope, when using Corus Colorcoat Prisma® or Corus Colorcoat
HPS200 Ultra®. Corus Confidex Sustain® is about more than
just carbon offsetting; the aim is to encourage specification of
the most sustainable pre-finished steel products and cladding
systems. As part of the Confidex Sustain® scheme
Environmental Product Declarations have been produced showing the
total carbon impact of Euroclad Elite Systems. Environmental
Product Declarations provide a summary of the environmental impact
of Elite Systems from cradle to cradle. These cover production of
system components, transport, system manufacture, installation, use
and end of life solution enabling Elite Systems to be fully
traceable.
A recyclable building envelope can be achieved with Elite
Systems.
The steel external and liner sheets can be recycled and the
mineral wool insulation can be recycled or reused. Elite
Systems are site assembled and can be deconstructed with relative
ease at the end of their useful life. This enables transport
loads to be optimised, minimising the number of journeys made
during the recycling process and subsequently reducing
CO2 emissions. Elite Systems feature zero ODP, low GWP
and no added greenhouse gases.
Elite Systems can provide revenue at the end of their useful
life.
A Steel Construction Institute report states that
there are "No barriers to recycling profiled steel roofing and
cladding products..." The Corus Colorcoat® Technical Paper, End of
life options for pre-finished steel Buildings 2006, states that
recycling building envelopes, like Elite Systems, can generate a
revenue of £1m2.
